This is some of the ad campaigns for the 1984 season
By 1984 Honda, its riders, and The ATC 250R have proven themselves time and time again in Baja. Yet this year would be differant. In previous Baja's, the motorcycles started first followed by all 4 wheeled vehicles, last were the ATC's. The problem was The ATC's were so fast they would catch up to and pass most of the 4 wheeled vehicles. This was dangerous for the riders because comming up on a truck in the desert at 85+mph in a big dust cloud was a hairy moment. For this year the 3 wheelers would start AFTER the motorcycles. But the riders were not done showing what a 3wheeler could do. All but 4 open class bikes could stay ahead. (and remember they had a big head start)
